Welcome!
This website's purpose is to present the professional achievements of Nicolas Mourguye, a "dubbing translator." Nicolas' job involves translating and adapting the dialogues of various audiovisual works from English into French. This explains why he is sometimes also referred to as an "audiovisual translator" or "dialogue writer."
At 34 years old, Nicolas has been working freelance at his craft for eight years now. He has had the opportunity to apply his skills to many diverse genres, including police drama, science-fiction, medical drama, teen shows, documentaries and cartoons. Nicolas is now working on the third season of Mad Men, an American television series that has received numerous awards (Emmy Award and Golden Globe for Best Drama Series, Peabody award, Writers' Guild award, and more), along with rave reviews. Set in early 1960's New York City, Mad Men takes us into the ruthless world of Sterling-Cooper, a Manhattan advertising agency located on Madison Avenue. The bold and peculiar visual look of the show explains the choice of the photo on the left.
For a fan of fiction of all kinds, who enjoys television as much as movie theaters and books, and who was trained in French universities, improv theater groups and English pubs, dubbing is an ideal field of endeavor--hence the enthusiasm, creativity and passion that help Nicolas take on the challenge that is dubbing. Day after day, he strives to meet the multifold demands of a successful translation, the most important of which are, according to him, respect for the original version, lifelikeness of the dialogue, rhythm and lip-sync of the sentences, and coherence with the moving images.
